FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: CLASSES

LOCATION:

We are located in DUMBO, Brooklyn (98 Water Street) between Washington and Main

Getting here: F to York Street | A/C to High Street | 2/3 to Clark St | B25 to Water/Main | Ferry to Dumbo Landing. There are parking garages near our studio and are the best bet if driving.

How our classes work:

Semesters

Our courses follow a week-to-week curriculum and each semester is around 6-8 weeks long.

Semester vs single classes

Classes run on a semester-long basis (typically 6-8 weeks), though we also offer the option of single-day sign-ups. Semesters are prorated once started. If fewer than 4 weeks are left in the course, only single-day rates will be available. Keep in mind a single-day class is an introduction to the course but cannot substitute a full course curriculum. We advise registering for a full semester to see progress.

If there are dates you know you cannot attend in a semester, we recommend booking multiple single classes instead of the full semester.

Age groups:

Our group classes are designed for all age groups and levels: Adults (18+), Teens (9-17), Kids (4-8), and Toddlers (22 mo-4 yrs). Toddlers must be accompanied by one adult. All other classes are drop-off only. Camps are for ages 6-14 and, unfortunately, we cannot welcome kiddos under the age of 6 for camp; there is no flexibility.

How to register:

Register through the appropriate age group’s page (in the menu above). Our registration system cuts off 12 hours ahead of booking start time and prior registration and payment through our website is required.

While we welcome registrations and keep our enrollment open, please keep in mind we are a small business run by a small team of real people! Registrations are closed 12 hours before class start-time.

What to bring:

  • Adult Classes: we supply most materials, however, WE DO NOT SUPPLY A CANVAS; you must purchase a canvas and bring it to your painting class (11x14 or 12x16 recommended). Speciality art supplies like pouring mediums or glosses or not supplied, but you may bring them.

  • Kids, teen, and toddler classes: all art supplies are included (if you’d like to work on a large canvas larger than 11x14, you would need to supply it).

  • Camps: all art supplies are included

  • Private Art Lessons: all art supplies are included (if you’d like to work on a large canvas larger than 11x14, you would need to supply it). Speciality art supplies like pouring mediums or glosses or not supplied, but you may bring them.

  • Online classes: art supplies are NOT included. We have outlined simple and inexpensive material lists for each class to make the experience easy for students.

Can I leave my art at the studio?

If your canvas is drying, (large painting or oil painting), we will keep it for you until your next session. If you are only signed up for a single class and it needs to dry, please communicate this to the instructor.

All work or works in progress must be collected within 1 week. If you cannot pick up your work during this period, email us to let us know when you will be coming. We are not responsible for work left in our studio for longer than 1 week after your session and; we do not have excess storage space and if we do not hear from you within a week, your canvas will be recycled.
