Alongside our in-studio teen classes, we offer online group art courses on Zoom. Online art classes are perfect for teen artists joining long-distance for those who are homeschooling.

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL ART INSTRUCTION FROM HOME

  • Online teen art classes are structured with comprehensive curriculums. Class meets once a week for the duration of the course. If you miss the start date, you can join at prorated fee.

  • Classes are hosted LIVE by a professional teaching artist. We provide essential exercises and instruction to build a solid foundation in your preferred media.

  • Students can also pick single-class sign-ups. Please note, single classes cannot substitute a full semester but can be an introduction and/or a creative activity if you’re stuck indoors in bad weather!

  • Our online art courses are on Zoom at Eastern Standard Time.

  • The Zoom link will be sent to your email 30 minutes before class

  • Registration cuts off 12 hours before class.

SPRING (APRIL 16-MAY 31)

ONLINE SURREALISM + DREAM IMAGERY IN ART

For 9-16 yrs

TUESDAYS 4:30PM-6:30PM EST (VIA ZOOM)

Dive into your unconscious and express yourself through surrealist painting!  Surrealism balances the rational everyday vision of life with the power of the unconscious and dreaming, where the artist focuses on their imagination for imagery or to exploit unexpected juxtapositions. In this class, we will study this exciting genre, and learn how to choose provocative subjects to create uniquely personal perspectives: how does a fish look in a car? A house in the ocean? A ladder in the clouds? The only limit is your own imagination to merge the common with the fantasy. We will use common, ordinary objects as our main subjects and find ways to put them in uniquely surreal settings and from unusual angles, creating dream-like visuals. We will reference the artists who came from this movement, including Magritte, Dali, and Ernst, but mainly this is a class to “paint freely.” Let your imagination run wild, and create drama and story on your canvas.

  • All online lessons are provided via Zoom. please make sure you have downloaded the App prior to class start time. Make sure you are using the device you downloaded to.

    We recommend prepping for your lesson at least 15 minutes before class start time, gather your materials and check your connection- you don’t want to miss anything!

    We close access to our group classes 15 minutes after start time, as joining late upsets the class flow for others.

    Please be mindful if you join late you will not be provided additional class time and lessons will not be extended.

    ONLINE Lessons start promptly as advertised. If you fail to join the lesson on time, for whatever reason- technical or personal. We do NOT provide extra time or extend the lesson.

ONLINE Color Theory for Drawing and Painting

For 12-17 yrs

This class will explore the importance of color in conveying mood, depth, contrast, and emotion in students’ work. We’ll review the color wheel, color harmony, and the context of how colors are used. Learn to use a limited palette to create a range of color contrasts, learn color mixing, and develop an intuitive color sense in drawing and painting.
