DUMBO DRINK AND DRAW LINE-UP
June 11: Craig Anthony Miller: “Elephants Amongst Bridges”
Dive into the world of street art with Craig Anthony Miller (CAM), the muralist behind some of DUMBO's most iconic walls. In this hands-on workshop, spray paint will be your primary tool as you work with custom stencils, including CAM's signature elephant and other animals like the hummingbird, to create dynamic images on canvas. Learn how to use spray paint effectively, blending colors and working with negative space to shape your piece. Whether you stick with the stencil or let your creativity take over, this workshop invites you to explore the bold, expressive possibilities of spray paint in an authentic and guided environment.
In addition to the art, there will be raffles and a special giveaway for one lucky participant. Embrace the symbolism of the elephant—representing strength, wisdom, and overcoming obstacles—and capture the essence of Brooklyn’s rich history and the bridges that connect us all. This workshop is about creating art that reflects resilience, unity, and progress in a vibrant, community-driven space.
June 18th, April Hannah - Exploring Abstraction
Join artist April Hannah for an evening of playful mark-making and intuitive creativity as we dive into the world of abstraction. You’ll begin by cutting out a shape—either from a provided template or one you invent yourself—and tracing it repeatedly across your canvas or paper to build a layered web of forms. From there, look within the shapes to find hidden patterns, then outline and fill them in using paint, charcoal, markers, or mixed media. Inspired by April’s meditative, process-based approach, this workshop encourages experimentation, curiosity, and rule-breaking. Come ready to cut, trace, paint, and play—no experience necessary.
June 25th, Samantha Baker - Continuous line portraits.
Join Samantha Baker for a bold and expressive workshop focused on creating portraits through continuous line drawing and layered collage. Begin with a single, unbroken line—drawn freely across the page without lifting your pen—as you sketch the contours of a face in your own unique style. Use pencil to warm up or go straight in with marker or ink. Once your portrait emerges, bring it to life by filling in the shapes with vibrant color, bold patterns, or layered collage. Trace individual sections onto thin paper, back them with found materials, and cut and glue them into place like puzzle pieces. Known for her fearless, improvisational approach, Samantha encourages you to loosen your grip, trust your instincts, and explore the expressive possibilities of line and texture.
July 2nd, Rodney Ewing - Objects in erspective
Join visual artist Rodney Ewing—whose powerful mixed-media work explores overlooked histories of the Black Diaspora—as he guides you through the fundamentals of two-point perspective drawing. With a background in drawing, printmaking, and installation, Ewing’s practice bridges memory, fact, and form. In this session, you’ll learn to create three-dimensional objects on a flat surface using horizon lines, vanishing points, and perspective lines to build depth and structure. Starting with a simple cuboid, you’ll follow a step-by-step process to expand and create your own imagined spaces or architectural compositions. All levels welcome—whether you're new to perspective or refining your technique, this is a rare chance to draw alongside an artist deeply engaged with space, story, and precision.
Rodney Ewing’s art invites presence and reflection. Through drawing, you’ll begin to see how space can hold emotion, memory, and history. Bring your curiosity and your pencil—this is more than a drawing lesson, it’s an opportunity to look closer and draw deeper.
July 9th, Tyler Scott - Van Gogh style painting
Join Brooklyn-born artist Tyler Scott for a bold and expressive painting session inspired by the vibrant brushwork of Vincent van Gogh. Using acrylics, you’ll learn how to layer thick paint, build dynamic textures, and use color emotionally rather than realistically—hallmarks of Van Gogh’s powerful style. Whether you choose to paint a swirling sky, a vivid landscape, or a glowing still life, this workshop will help you let go of perfection and paint with feeling.
Tyler holds a BFA in Illustration from FIT and leads both teen and adult programs at Creatively Wild Art Studio. Known for his approachable style and strong foundation in both traditional and digital mediums, Tyler will guide you in embracing spontaneity and trusting your creative instincts—just as Van Gogh once did.
July 16th, Tanya and Superfine
Step into the word of one of the creative minds of Dumbo. Tanya brings a Superfine approach to all things art. Learn the process behind the master as we join Superfines co-owner down for a night of fun and creativity!
July 23rd, Leysan Nigmatova - Surrealist watercolor and collage paintings.
Explore the unexpected through surrealist painting and collage in this playful mixed-media workshop. Begin with loose watercolor washes to create a dreamy, abstract background, then layer in found images, cut paper, and drawn elements to build a one-of-a-kind composition that blends reality with imagination.
This session encourages intuitive choices and creative surprises—let the materials guide you as you build something strange, whimsical, or quietly surreal. Whether you're an experienced artist or just looking to loosen up and try something new, this is a chance to experiment with color, texture, and narrative in unexpected ways.
July 30th, Austen Aura - Graffiti exploration: Lettering and design
Austin brings a very wild style to a cozy night under the archway. Spend your evening creating in a way you never though possible. Our spray paint instructor will show you how to express your inner graffiti artist! From lettering to imagery, we hope to push your ideas to new heights.
August 13th, Ty Peterson - Figure drawing with a live model!
This relaxing figure-drawing workshop gives artists the perfect opportunity to put into practice the essential elements of drawing anatomy. The art of sketching the human figure enables us to gather the tools for capturing the essence of the human body's musculature, texture, and posture while honing observational skills. Hone your life drawing skills with the instruction of a Creatively Wild teaching artist! Charcoal, alcohol markers, oil pastels, chalk pastels, colored pens and pencils, and more will be available for use!
